Gerald Cohen began his legal career as an Assistant District Attorney in the Bronx County District Attorney's Office's Arson, Auto, and Economic Crimes Bureau. Mr. Cohen primarily investigated and prosecuted white collar crimes, including forged financial and government documents, asset forfeitures, money laundering, identity theft, insurance fraud, grand larceny, forgery, embezzlement, tax evasion, auto-theft, arson, robbery, child pornography and other cyber crimes. During his tenure in that office, Mr. Cohen took several cases to trial and represented the People in hundreds of matters in New York State Supreme Court.

As the co-founding partner of Cohen & Fitch LLP, Mr. Fitch is heavily focused on the firm’s Civil Rights practice where he successfully obtained millions of dollars in compensation for his clients and has vindicated the rights of thousands of New Yorkers whose constitutional rights have been violated at the hands of law enforcement, City officials and private parties. In addition, because of his extensive prosecutorial experience, he maintains a successful criminal defense practice, which has resulted in numerous dismissals, acquittals after trial and other favorable dispositions for his clients.
